the sky is having a party

You know those kinds of days. Everything possible seems to be going wrong as you forget one thing after another, and as each special "surprise" responsibility gets thrown on you, you think, "not one more thing!" You barely scratch the surface of your to-do list, that looms over your overwhelmingly busy life. You spill your (hot cocoa/coffee🀣) all over yourself. You end up yelling at your kids. Oh. And of course, it's raining. As the thunder booms and lightning crashes, the drops of rain that mercilessly cascade down onto you blend in with the tears that are slowly, silently streaming down your face.

Now let's back up for a second. And maybe look it at the fictional day... in another way!

There is a 75% chance of rain today. You wrote "register kids for camp," "take a meal to the Jensens," "pay utility bill" and "send birthday call to Mom" on a notepad. You were not able to do any of the things you wanted to do. You get a lot of things to do at work. You say, "Stop it" in a relatively loud voice to your child. It rains. There is thunder and lightning.

What's the difference between the two paragraphs?

Well, for starters, I hope it's obvious that the second one is much more boring. Disclaimer -- I'm a teenager! I don't have kids, work in corporate, drink coffee, drive, lol, or live the average American adult life, so hey, if the above situation is inaccurate, be sure to give me some better "worst adult bad day" ideas. But I like to think that I can write.

And I'm sure the first passage would get a much better grade than the second one in my Honors English class.

But...why?

Because I dramatized it.

No, it's not the vocab words or powerful, vivid verbs (although I did use them to ramp this situation up), it's the way I looked at this situation.

(Stay with me, y'all. Coming up with some gold soon. ;) )

As boring as the second one is, it is true. Every sentence is something everyone would, could agree on. Nothing is subjective (except for the yelling comment I suppose) and most can be proven.

What does this prove?

Circumstances are neutral.

Your day is neutral.

So is your life.

There is no such thing as a "bad day." Maybe that's just how you chose to market it.

Now, of course, there's nothing wrong with having thoughts about these circumstances. Because all the facts - that really is robotic, Siri-esque.

But it's important to know that you have the power to choose whether to put a positive or negative spin on things, through your thoughts. Which create your feelings, which create your reality, which sum up your life. (This is not my original idea or model, head over here to learn more!)

Alright, now with a new mood and outlook, let's imagine the same day, again, for the final way.

This is a crazy life. But it's a good crazy, the kind that makes you smile at all you're getting to experience and go through in this crazy life.

You didn't register the kids, or bring the meal, or pay the bill, or get the card. But none of this affects your worth, and doing anything or not doing anything never will. The beautiful thing about this life is that tomorrow, there will be a sunrise. A beautiful new day -- a fresh start.

It will be okay.

As you drive home in your car - seriously, you have a car? So amazing. You're perfectly dry, you're in a car, ugh, love it. And it starts to rain.

You see some people sighing, rolling their eyes in their windows, maybe turning the windshield wipers on, and putting on a gloomy attitude to match the rain.

But who says rain is bad? Who says rain is gloomy, sad, depressing, or drab?

What if it's beautiful?

What if as you hear each pitter-patter drop of water, you see how it will fall on the ground, fill the lakes, rivers, streams, and will breathe into the plants and waters new life? And if you pause. And look up and think, "God created all of this."

You smile and say no one in particular, "the sky is having a party!" and crack up.

Because, my friends, rain is just confetti from the sky.

land of the free because of the brave

So, Monday is Memorial Day...
ahem. You guys. So insane.

Just wanted to share this quote as we think about the lives lost during this holiday. Of course we can have fun - and enjoy our barbeques - and sing the Star Spangled Banner until our heart's content. But let's not forget the amazing sacrifice of all of those who laid down their lives.

I'm so proud to live in Americaaaa, this land, which is my land, and your land, and oh, gosh, I got to make some lyric printspo, but anyways.

It is the unsung heroes that we have to thank for ... US. A free country, fought for by our ancestors - my ancestors, your ancestors, my neighbors, your neighbors. Maybe. Even. You!

Please share this patriotic quote with anyone you think is brave and enjoy the weekend!

ultimate personal progress hack: 2019 journal

Alright. That lil..okay...kinda huge project, lol, that I've been dropping lil hints on for the past four months...

πŸŽ†it's here!πŸŽ†

I am just so excited to put this out and share this with the world!! There are so many ways to use it, I'm just so proud of it which I can confidently say is my best work at my current skill level 😊  and I had such a blast creating it, but I am even more thrilled thinking about how much it can help the people who purchase it!

Still working toward your Young Women's medallion? Or trying to help motivate your daughters or Young Women to finish? This Ultimate Summer Personal Progress Journal is the answer.

I've spent the last four months (!) crafting this workbook in hopes of helping young women all over the world get excited about completing their Personal Progress!

This 12-week workbook is beautifully designed, filled with whimsical illustrations and cleverly organized plans that will help take the stress out of Personal Progress. And we're not cutting any corners. This features the ENTIRE Personal Progress program, with worksheets for every required experience and project -- but in a fun and easy to follow way.

Already started the program? No problem. Whether you're at the beginning or stalled out somewhere along the way, this workbook is for you. You can use the tracker to mark off the projects and experiences you've already completed so you can simply focus on what you've got left.

The workbook is created by a Young Woman (ME!) for the Young Women. It features a fun summer theme and color scheme. I've purposely made it non-dated so that you can begin and end whenever summer comes for you.

If you're purchasing this for personal or small group use, I recommend printing in full color. If that's not an option, don't sweat it -- your purchase includes a printer-friendly black and white version as well. You could give to your YW all at once OR hand out the pages weekly.

Personal Progress is meant to be personal -- and this packet won't take that away. It will simply help prompt, motivate and encourage each YW in her personal journey. For those longer experiences, I've provided checklists and worksheets that follow up until they are finished. As long as each YW is staying close to the packet, she'll be able to stay on track.

This instant download is just one click away. Purchase includes:

-super stinkin' cute Personal Progress tracker
-Personal Progress schedule

-monthly calendars

-a weekly overview that tells you what you'll be starting, what you're working on and what you can check off

-hand-lettered worksheets for EVERY Personal Progress experience!

-creative and fun personalized elective ideas

-project planning pages

and, also...
-Book of Mormon reading chart for the Virtue value project
-cute planner "stickers"

So what are you waiting for? It's almost summer. It's time to earn that medallion! If you're interested or want to show support, click one of the images below!

Alright. Soooooo.... here's the obvious question. You have free worksheets... so why come out with a paid program?

The free worksheets are here to stay, but anyone interested in completely up-leveling their Personal Progress experience should absolutely get this in my totally biased opinion!

I created the worksheets a long time ago, so they are throwbacks from my Canva-obsessed days, and this new product is so much more vibrant or fun.

Of course, the beauty of it is, it's a win-win. Whether you choose to check out the product or not, you've still got access to amazing Personal Progress resources and always will until...lol, I have no clue!! Some people are saying the church is spilling the... herbal tea...🀣🀣 on this awesome new initiative September 29th, but that may be just when they are announcing it in sacrament meeting and the church is super good about making their news accessible through their website. Ugh, I don't know, don't trust me for LDS news... just head over to their official and awesome website... which is now churchofjesuschrist.org, agh, I love it!!

Now, for anyone who has read to the bottom of this post... or been a super awesome rebel and skipped to the end, check out this amazing free sample to get a taste of what the program is really like. There's 12 more of these (plus tons of fun bonuses) with your purchase. Enjoy!

to all the angel mothers

All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.
-Abraham Lincoln

You guys! Mother’s Day is this Sunday! So excited for all the festivities... and for everyone to give their mommies everything they deserve.

I could write a novella here about how awesome my mom is - you could too. I could write line upon line with fancy gifts, exquisite cards, and make dozens of printspo to prove my undying love for my mother. I could have a jet write out the words in the sky, or grafitti them somewhere in the house (lol, wouldn’t that be the best gift) or make a farmhouse or canvas Mother’s Day print, all to tell of my luvvvvvv for her.

Yet... it wouldn’t mean anything if I stopped caring once the holiday ended.

How often do we just say things Bc they’re cute + trendy rn?

That we love our mother, dad, that we’re grateful, loving, scary, peaceful, and fun — right when it’s jusssst the right holiday?

But what if we enjoyed the spirits of the holidays year round-we always were grateful, honored Dad & Mom, thought of Jesus Christ’s birth and resurrection?

Maybe it’s worth a try.

Pin this image if you agree with the quote.

Enjoy the holiday!!

mother's day personal progress

Heyyyyy, y'all. Here I am, yet again, with...shocker... another slightly late holiday post. But, no, it's never too late, although Mother's Day is in 1! More! Week!

Ugh. Of course I decided to revamp/redesign last years post, and as I was reading it I just had to laugh. I was all like, "Mother's Day is coming up! It may not be for a while, but I prefer to release things early than late. Let's get started." Ew! I sound so snobby. And I posted it a whole month before the real event.

Aaaaagh I'm so sorry I'm coming a little late to the playing field, but either way I hope this cute little Mother's Day Personal Progress worksheet will help you get some PP done.

The church is starting to release (agonizingly vague) facts about the new 2020 program. PP is dying. Like our amazing prophet said, "Time is running out!!!" And that most definitely includes Personal Progress.

Do you still need to get your medallion? Don't forget to grab a few worksheets while you're here, maybe a Personal Progress binder, and soon, (I have been saying "soon" foreevvverrr...😬😬) a supercute special program with hand-lettering and illustrations galore to help you finish up your Personal Progress and get the necklace you DESERVE!!!

So, for Mother's Day, you can grab this Mother's Day worksheet for Faith 2. I hope the cute illustrations and colors make it a little extra fun, and I think your mother (or any awesome YW leader) will love completing it with you. Here is my old post if you want a few (not as well designed) concepts and ideas.

Please Pin this image, and share it with anyone you think could use it this Mother's Day.
And, I hate asking favors, but I would love it if you could give the account a follow. It just takes one quick click, it's free, and it can help you to easily see new free content on the blog.

Enjoy your Mother's Day!! Any mothers reading this... TY for everything you do 24/7 for your children and families, and for just being you! Any YW trying to work on their PP before the time runs out, look at you! I see you! Any action to further your progress on the goal is simply amazing. And to everyone. You are amazing, enjoy the holiday, and know you are loved.

let's do something NOW

I recently got to see the amazing film Breakthrough, and just had to nag every Christian I know to watch it, under the guise of the weekly printspo for y’all. πŸ˜‰

Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.”

I love this quote, coming from the movie, but I have to disagree. The first part - spot on. Depression often comes from dwelling from the past; it’s something to learn from and not to be stuck in. But focusing on the future - aside from preparing for it - won’t do much good and may even lead to anxiety.

How often have we just said, "oh, I'll try this, be this, apologize for this, become like that, reach my goals, JUST DO IT tomorrow."

And then that lil' fictional tmrw never comes.

YOU GUYS! (random energy blast?)

I saw the best little Pinterest image I set aside to letter(...omigosh! I said I would letter it tomorrow! Lol, I'm preaching and then in my little speech I realize I'm practicing this myself)

Anyways, it said, "Stop waiting for Friday. {for tomorrow?} For summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now."

PREACH!!! Rn, we are in the present! Rn! So STOP WAITING!!

Let's get off the couch and go DO SOMETHING, anything, now, to further ourselves at reaching our goals. Me? I'm going to, idk, like stop sitting down ranting on my laptop. Maybe use some of this colossal reserve of ENERGY I just tapped into!

Okay. So wrapping things up.

What we can focus on is the present - all we can control, and all we can act in. Today is ours to win or lose - no, now is ours to win or lose. So if I don’t agree, why did I take all the time to letter it?

Lol, well first, I'm clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but secondly...

Because I love this movie!! It’s the story of 14-year-old John Smith, who suddenly falls under the ice. Things don’t look good for him, the EMTs saying finding his body is a “recovery, not a rescue.” His mother Joyce (Chrissy Metz) has complete faith that he will walk out of the hospital fully capable and alive - what will happen? 😱😱😱 Oh, I’m terrible at writing movie reviews. πŸ˜‚

Just watch it!

It’s so easy to get sucked into all of this negativity about how there’s so much muck and filth in the entertainment world, but this restored my faith in movies. I mean, this is the first movie in a while I actually liked because of the AMAZING STORY and not because the young male actor was like πŸ˜πŸ˜.

I’m so sorry I missed posting last week - life happens. Ty for just stopping by!

Have a great Friday. Alright. Excuse me as I go on, idk, a sprint.
