5 Easy & Time Saving Young Women Bulletin Board Tips for You

Who here loves putting up new young women bulletin boards? Even when I'm satisfied with the young women bulletin board end result, assembling it can be not only tedious, but time consuming. 🕰🙄

I tried set out to simplify this process as I set up our 2021 Young Women bulletin board! It turned out soooo cute, and we were able to save time putting it up by following these five simple tips.

1. Supercharge productivity with teamwork

Try This: There is a lot of menial work to do as you prepare for bulletin board setup. Doesn't cutting out elements + stringing together banners sound SO exhilarating? 😆 We can "bear one another's burdens" by sharing the load.

👉 You’re a hardworking + busy Latter-day Saint leader! Just like the other people in your presidency. So who can help? (Hint: it’s the same people you’re setting this up for…) 👱🏻‍♀️

YW bulletin board setup can be turned into an activity. Listen to the new youth theme music or talk while you work. 🎶 With so many helping hands, it will take a small fraction of what it would for you working solo.

It Worked for Us: 🙏Total shoutout to my mom, who helped me put this together from her years of experience putting up bulletin boards. My fab sister also joined the team. 🤝

2. Use a low maintenance setup

Try This: For better or worse, we live in a virtual world. 💻 I know some people like to keep their bulletin boards up to date monthly, and that’s totally cool. 😉 But if you hate updating your bulletin board, why constantly make yourself do it?

👉Make your bulletin board theme based & avoid any monthly or seasonal info like lessons, birthdays, or activities. Chances are, you already communicate this information digitally, so, no loss to your group!

It Worked for Us: We spent a Saturday morning setting up, then did some major high fives knowing we wouldn't have to update the bulletin board anytime soon. 🥳 We were able to do this because our (my) kit includes enough assets to fill the bulletin board without needing to add changing info.

3. Make a battle plan

Try This: I hate spending hours at the church on bulletin boards and getting so burnt out! 🥵 Save your energy by deciding beforehand how you want to lay out your elements ahead of time. Then, on assembly day, you're just stapling. No guesswork. 😎

It Worked For Us: 🕵🏻‍♀️I called this a "crime scene" because we measured the bulletin board dimensions & then made our own at-home replication where we could shuffle things around until we had our desired result!

4. Use a neutral background

Try This: This step goes into helping your future self—or whoever gets to change the bulletin board next😂—years in advance! 🔮

No one wants to take down the border and background off of the bulletin board in addition to changing it. 🙅🏻‍♀️ Do your bulletin board a favor & use a nice neutral color that will go with any and every color palette you may use with future themes.🎨

Ideas include:

Straight-up cork board ✨

Brown Kraft paper 🤎

Light grey fabric◽️

or any other neutrals you can find!

For your border, use another neutrally colored ribbon & you’re good to go for wherever the theme takes you in the next few years! 📅

5. Delegate its creation to save energy & time

Try This: 🙋🏻‍♀️ Been there, done that, and learned that it takes hours to create an effective & beautiful bulletin board kit. You can spend your time on this process (finding an effective color palette, researching meaningful quotes, choosing fonts & images that are cohesive, creating dozens of assets and unified designs...🥵).

👉But when you say “yes” to the long process of DIY-ing the bulletin board graphics, what other uses of your time are you saying “no” to?

😎 Get that time back by purchasing this supercute bulletin board kit to save you time and sanity, and excite & teach the young women about the theme this 2021 year!

💛 I hope tips like these help you! Before you leave, I want to make sure you know this is NOT the only resource I have to help you as a busy Latter-day Saint. 📌 Follow me on Pinterest to easily see & save all the helpful resources & freebies I’ve made for you. 😉

✨A sparkling water toast to 2021! ✨

3 tips for success from our latest in person activity

Have you been given the green light to meet together and social distance? 🚦 My young women’s group just held our first in person activity at the church!

Everyone had a blast 🚀 getting to see each other & playing fun distancing-friendly games! 🙋🏻‍♀️

👉I’ll share some timely tips for success we found as we got used to the new setup & the details of our fun activity so you can pull it off for your group! 🥳

** by no means am I claiming to be an expert. just a creative young woman doing her best to follow leaders + current counsel. no pandemic shaming pls. we can agree to disagree, and you can take all or none of the tips from what we did in our small yw group!😷**

1. Technology still is helpful

Since this pandemic started, Zoom might have become the coolest thing since sliced bread. 🍞 I’m sure they were doing well before corona arrived, but I wonder if they realize, with the amount of people using it, their program just might have achieved world domination. 😂

At this point, we’re probably sick of the constant reliability on Zoom calls, virtual events & technology. 📱 But that doesn’t mean that some cool tech can’t be helpful when we can finally enjoy in person events!

A slideshow helped us view what we were doing together, even as we sat a few feet apart. 👁

I know the logic may go, “if you’re just sitting & using a slideshow the whole time during an activity, what’s the point of holding it in person?” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I say, different activities meet different needs. Mix it up! You’re committing to distance and wear masks (or follow whatever your guidelines are), not to hold a certain type of activity every week. 😅

This setup worked for this less-active activity, and it can work for y’all too when you have activities like this! 😎

2. Clipboards (+ corona creativity) is key

As a student, remembering the days when crowding around a table in the cafeteria was a thing evokes some humor and nostalgia for when things were more simple. 😭🦠

As we distance right now, I’ve found that clipboards are key if printables are a part of your activity.🖨

Print & clip all you need & then no need for passing papers, pens, and other supplies around throughout the activity. 📋

Place one on each of the socially distanced chairs and you are practically, and aesthetically, all set.☺️

The deeper meaning behind the clipboard principle? If we get creative, we can find problems to the monkey wrench corona threw in planning events -- and still enjoy them while distancing!

3. Small details go a long way

By small and simple means are great things brought to pass!

Look at our setup (in the gym so we could socially distance) before & after these small details.

All I added was some decorative banner pages & Family History themed Mormonads. The other young women helped me to put them up as people, and I took them down while they were journaling.

The moral of the story? You don’t have to go over the top to make this a fun & meaningful event! Simple touches like these can make all the difference + you have what it takes to throw a great in-person activity! Cheering y’all on. 😉🙌

take 5 treat tag + task cards: make a habit of family history!

Say, do you have a couple spare hours to get some genealogy going on? 🧬 If you are a total family history boss with indexing totals to flex all day, kudos to you! 👩🏻‍💻

But as for me...here it comes...I often struggle to find the time. 🕰 I know this is a tired excuse, but I also know is not uncommon. We all could use a little extra encouragement & motivation to do my family history!

Enter the Take 5 treat tag & task cards! 😎 Who can’t spare 5 minutes for some bite sized family history? 🍪 Who wouldn’t love to get some tasks done by small and simple means?

Each task card has something you can really do in 5 minutes. Put them on a binder ring, turn them into a booklet, or get them in a fun editable bingo board format over here.

These task cards are squares so that they are also textable to your participants. Simply screenshot and send. 🤳 It doesn’t get much easier for your group members than getting a reminder message on their phone to do something quick and easy that’s also on their phone, right?

Excite your participants about the task cards at the beginning or reward them at the end by giving them the Take 5 bar 😋, along with a treat tag to connect these super fun activities.

marcador de páginas: tema dos jovens 2020

Ler esse post em: Português | Espanhol | Inglês

2020, certo?

Aproveitar!

¿2020, no?

oct '20 general conference

Who else was so uplifted + inspired by General Conference? 🤩🥰 There were so many quotable messages + lots of inspired counsel in this October 2020 conference!

I will also be featuring them on Insta 📷 throughout the next bit to help us all remember + follow the great things that were said in this conference after last weekend's spiritual high. 😌

Saturday Morning

Moving Forward

Our natural man tendencies may be to sulk through 2020 🦠, but our Prophet's understands + reminds us of the great direction the Lord’s work is going in!

I love this quote encouraging to let our faith change the world, 🌎 but not let the world change our faith, or our "trust" and "confidence" in the Savior, as Elder Bednar puts it.

Elder Cook gave a call for a diversity + unity in the church, eloquently pointing out how we can have both! 🙌🏻👏🏼🙌🏽👏🏾🙌🏿

Recommended to the Lord

This hit home! I have no clue when my temple will be open again, but he makes it clear when we should be back in our bishops' offices, reflecting on our lives so we can be "recommended to the temple." ✨

Elder Steven J. Lund is both realistic about the growing 📈divide between good and evil, and positive about the strength of the youth of the church in his talk.

I love Sister Craven’s positive attitude ☀️. When we mess up, it’s the repenting that follows + that helps us continue the lifelong process of change.

I love hearing from our Prophet! 👏 The peace & companionship that comes from God is worth it, or as Al Fox Carraway says, “oh so good!” ☮️ 🌿

I think we’ve really been reminded of the need to survive temporally + spiritually this year! President Nelson lets us know where we can turn: God + His Word, especially the Book of Mormon because it was written for our day! 😎

Besides “Master, the Tempest Is Raging” being my FAVORITE hymn to play 🎹, I love Sister Harkness description of firm + steadfast faith.

I love President Andersen’s reminder for us to unite with Christians. As believers become more scarce, we need to unite with anyone + everyone who loves the Savior like we do, despite differences we may have! ✝️💜

This question has meant so much to me. I’m so grateful that the Prophet helped me to see life this way—we are either letting God prevail or not in every choice we make! And choosing to submit to His will will bring the ultimate safety and peace. ☮️

Challenge time! This is so perfectly aligned with the Come, Follow Me next week. It’s all coming together, just like I know it will if we take this invitation the Prophet has given. 💌

I love President Eyring’s reminder of the mercy, love, goodness + grace of our Heavenly Father + His Son, which is manifest no matter what circumstances we are in. 🙏

Such a powerful quote from Elder Holland reminding us that being in the gospel doesn’t give us a free pass from trials, persecution, or opposition. 👉It—no, God—gives us strength to go through difficulties.

This talk reminds me of how crucial it is to have a Latter-day Prophet, giving us such current counsel based on the world we now live in. I know he speaks for the Lord! 💬

¿Retador, no? 😮

#3. MUCHOS CORAZONES

 besos y abrazos,
