3 tips for success from our latest in person activity

Have you been given the green light to meet together and social distance? My young women’s group just held our first in person activity at the church!

Everyone had a blast 馃殌 getting to see each other & playing fun distancing-friendly games!

I’ll share some timely tips for success we found as we got used to the new setup & the details of our fun activity so you can pull it off for your group!

** by no means am I claiming to be an expert. just a creative young woman doing her best to follow leaders + current counsel. no pandemic shaming pls. we can agree to disagree, and you can take all or none of the tips from what we did in our small yw group!

1. Technology still is helpful

Since this pandemic started, Zoom might have become the coolest thing since sliced bread. I’m sure they were doing well before corona arrived, but I wonder if they realize, with the amount of people using it, their program just might have achieved world domination.

At this point, we’re probably sick of the constant reliability on Zoom calls, virtual events & technology. But that doesn’t mean that some cool tech can’t be helpful when we can finally enjoy in person events!

A slideshow helped us view what we were doing together, even as we sat a few feet apart.

I know the logic may go, “if you’re just sitting & using a slideshow the whole time during an activity, what’s the point of holding it in person?”

I say, different activities meet different needs. Mix it up! You’re committing to distance and wear masks (or follow whatever your guidelines are), not to hold a certain type of activity every week.

This setup worked for this less-active activity, and it can work for y’all too when you have activities like this!

2. Clipboards (+ corona creativity) is key

As a student, remembering the days when crowding around a table in the cafeteria was a thing evokes some humor and nostalgia for when things were more simple.

As we distance right now, I’ve found that clipboards are key if printables are a part of your activity.

Print & clip all you need & then no need for passing papers, pens, and other supplies around throughout the activity.

Place one on each of the socially distanced chairs and you are practically, and aesthetically, all set.☺️

The deeper meaning behind the clipboard principle? If we get creative, we can find problems to the monkey wrench corona threw in planning events -- and still enjoy them while distancing!

3. Small details go a long way

By small and simple means are great things brought to pass!

Look at our setup (in the gym so we could socially distance) before & after these small details.

All I added was some decorative banner pages & Family History themed Mormonads. The other young women helped me to put them up as people, and I took them down while they were journaling.

The moral of the story? You don’t have to go over the top to make this a fun & meaningful event! Simple touches like these can make all the difference + you have what it takes to throw a great in-person activity! Cheering y’all on.

take 5 treat tag + task cards: make a habit of family history!

Say, do you have a couple spare hours to get some genealogy going on? If you are a total family history boss with indexing totals to flex all day, kudos to you!

But as for me...here it comes...I often struggle to find the time. I know this is a tired excuse, but I also know is not uncommon. We all could use a little extra encouragement & motivation to do my family history!

Enter the Take 5 treat tag & task cards! Who can’t spare 5 minutes for some bite sized family history? Who wouldn’t love to get some tasks done by small and simple means?

Each task card has something you can really do in 5 minutes. Put them on a binder ring, turn them into a booklet, or get them in a fun editable bingo board format over here.

These task cards are squares so that they are also textable to your participants. Simply screenshot and send. It doesn’t get much easier for your group members than getting a reminder message on their phone to do something quick and easy that’s also on their phone, right?

Excite your participants about the task cards at the beginning or reward them at the end by giving them the Take 5 bar 馃構, along with a treat tag to connect these super fun activities.

2020, certo?

¿2020, no?

oct '20 general conference

Who else was so uplifted + inspired by General Conference? There were so many quotable messages + lots of inspired counsel in this October 2020 conference!

I will also be featuring them on Insta 馃摲 throughout the next bit to help us all remember + follow the great things that were said in this conference after last weekend's spiritual high.

Moving Forward

Our natural man tendencies may be to sulk through 2020 馃, but our Prophet's understands + reminds us of the great direction the Lord’s work is going in!

I love this quote encouraging to let our faith change the world, 馃寧 but not let the world change our faith, or our "trust" and "confidence" in the Savior, as Elder Bednar puts it.

Elder Cook gave a call for a diversity + unity in the church, eloquently pointing out how we can have both!

Recommended to the Lord

This hit home! I have no clue when my temple will be open again, but he makes it clear when we should be back in our bishops' offices, reflecting on our lives so we can be "recommended to the temple." ✨

Elder Steven J. Lund is both realistic about the growing 馃搱divide between good and evil, and positive about the strength of the youth of the church in his talk.

I love Sister Craven’s positive attitude ☀️. When we mess up, it’s the repenting that follows + that helps us continue the lifelong process of change.

I love hearing from our Prophet! The peace & companionship that comes from God is worth it, or as Al Fox Carraway says, “oh so good!”

I think we’ve really been reminded of the need to survive temporally + spiritually this year! President Nelson lets us know where we can turn: God + His Word, especially the Book of Mormon because it was written for our day!

Besides “Master, the Tempest Is Raging” being my FAVORITE hymn to play 馃幑, I love Sister Harkness description of firm + steadfast faith.

I love President Andersen’s reminder for us to unite with Christians. As believers become more scarce, we need to unite with anyone + everyone who loves the Savior like we do, despite differences we may have!

This question has meant so much to me. I’m so grateful that the Prophet helped me to see life this way—we are either letting God prevail or not in every choice we make! And choosing to submit to His will will bring the ultimate safety and peace. ☮️

Challenge time! This is so perfectly aligned with the Come, Follow Me next week. It’s all coming together, just like I know it will if we take this invitation the Prophet has given.

I love President Eyring’s reminder of the mercy, love, goodness + grace of our Heavenly Father + His Son, which is manifest no matter what circumstances we are in.

Such a powerful quote from Elder Holland reminding us that being in the gospel doesn’t give us a free pass from trials, persecution, or opposition. It—no, God—gives us strength to go through difficulties.

This talk reminds me of how crucial it is to have a Latter-day Prophet, giving us such current counsel based on the world we now live in. I know he speaks for the Lord!

actividades virtuales para mmjj: 7 ideas

Leer este post en: Espa帽ol | Portugu锚s 馃嚙馃嚪

NOTICIAS IMPORTANTES:

*EL DOCUMENTO QUE PROMETER脡 ES EN LA PARTE DE ABAJO DEL POST PARA CONVENIENCIA 馃槑

*SOLAMENTE 7 DE MIS IDEAS SON DISPONIBLES EN ESPA脩OL. ENCONTRAR TODOS EN EL POST INGL脡S.

*¡SI VEN ERRORES, DIME AHORA!

¡Y empecemos!

#7. ¿Cu谩l prefieres? Versi贸n Cuarentena

#6. ¿Hecho por quien?

Zoom: La charla

馃し馃徎‍♀️ ¡Si alguien sabe una manera mejor decir eso, dime!

*los ideas religiosas comienzan aqu铆* 馃槆

Zoom: Usen la charla

#4. CARRERA DE CONFRENCIA GENERAL

Zoom: Usen la charla

¿Retador, no?

#3. MUCHOS CORAZONES

Escoger quien le dar谩n corazones—alguien solitario, lamentable etc. Cuanto m谩s, mejor.

#1. CONCURSO DE POSTRES DEL LIBRO DE MORM脫N

馃懇馃徎‍馃嵆 Cada mujer joven toma un foto con su mismo y su creaci贸n.

ponder, ask, prepare

The counsel that Jesus gave the Nephites in 3 Nephi 17:3 was to go into their homes, ponder the things He had taught, ask Heavenly Father to help them understand His teachings and prepare for more instruction the day following. As I studied CFM this morning it dawned on me that this same strategy can bless us as we prep for General Conference this week!

May our eyes, ears, minds and hearts be open and ready to receive all that God has in store for us. I am counting down the days!
