apr '20 | historical general conference

Hey y'all!! omigosh. So insane that the historical general conference has come, and gone, and ugh, it was so amazing.

I've never done this before, but corona has given me all sorts of time I never had, and I don't often fight back against my brain's perfectionist parameters, but there's a first time for everything!

so get ready for a load of general conference quotes, shared line upon line + one by one. I usually would want to finish them all and then stage a grand reveal, but today we're punching "all-or-nothing" in the face.

I'll be posting the best quotes on Insta as they come!

saturday afternoon session

*historic* saturday evening session

easter week bible study!!

Y'all! Easter Week is in like t minus um... Sunday! Which is soooo crazy. I cannot believe how much Easter has just crept up on me, especially with all the distractions lately. I think it would be sooo beneficial to turn our hearts and thoughts to Christ (and yah duh it always is) but esp amidst these troubling times!

And we can do that as we focus on Holy Week! I really wanted to treat Easter like I treat Christmas (which I'm seriously crazy about) and one of the ways I thought of coming closer to it was by studying the final events of the Savior's life.

I wanted to make a supercute and easy to use, simple study guide so here it is -- and of course it's free. πŸ’•πŸ’• Here's a simple breakdown of what's in it and why it's great.

I wanted this to be something to help Easter come alive for you. That's why I included TONS of resources for each day -- and no it's not a superlong boring reading laundry list!! In addition to the lovely words of the Four Gospels (or other church peeps)πŸ˜‰ I've rounded up paintings to look at, videos to watch (which I think are the most powerful) and uplifting music relating to the day. There's also space to record your thoughts and impressions, along with questions helping you tie Holy Week back to your life.

Instead of obsessing over numbers (?!?) which are, dumb, by the way, why not obsess about Jesus this week? This is your opportunity to escape the constant negative news cycles and dive into God's word.

Get your copy of the freebie here, and if you have thirty seconds could you please give me a follow on Pinterest and/or Insta? The blog is just getting started on social and everyone's help counts. Wishing all y'all the most amazing Easter!! Hugs!

{here are some extra pix of what each day entails}

This is simple! Not another to-do. Use as little or as many of the resources as you want!

**post-script + disclaimer**

and now this is where I tell people not to leave angry comments!! I'm not a biblical scholar. I'm a teenage girl, y'all, + my ultimate goal with this is to provide a beautifully designed free resource that anyone can use to study God's word leading up to Easter, bringing them closer to Christ.

If you want the hardcore crazy deep archaeology esoteric stuff... this is not the place to find it!!
But if you want a simple + meaningful way to read the Bible during the Holy Week, I made this for you.

I give each day a name -- and yes, I get that not every day has an official name. I split up verses from the four gospels for you to read each day -- and yes, I know that we don't have the exact "dates" of some of the events that happened. But we do know that they were before Christ's death, so I split them up through the week to make it doable for y'all to study. Etc. 😊

✝✝ --> For my nonmember, Christian friends reading this, yes, this is made supporting the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We love the Bible as well, and we do celebrate Easter. If you disagree with or are uncomfortable with the "Latter-Day Saintness" of this, there are plenty of other bible study guides from other Christians you can go for and use instead. No hate speech needed! πŸ˜‰

To sum it up, I'm not perfect, and I'm always happy to receive constructive criticism. Just keep in mind what I said above, who made this and their intent. πŸ’•

march 23-29 — Enos - Words of Mormon — He works in me to do His will

We’ve hit words of Mormon y’all! Aah! This is such a tiny adorable lil book. Love it. And I love this verse.

If anything becomes abundantly clear when examining the Church, it’s that the Lord’s ways are not men’s ways. The gospel seems like a lot for God to ask when looked at by a simple-minded human perspective.

But when you have that relationship with God, you see His hand in your life daily, you test the gospel principles, you don't take people's word for it and you learn it for yourself, and know, like Mormon does, that “the Lord knoweth all things which are to come,” it makes sense.

easter hymn quotes

aaaaaah! All of this being cooped up bc of corona has led to a lot of spare time - for pondering, stressing, thinking about... how crazy things have gotten. I've found comfort in the words of hymns amidst these trying times, and as I was about to share some Easter quotes, I thought, why not share the joyful messages that we convey with music?

It doesn't look like church will be in session on Easter morning, or that we'll be able to belt out or favorites of these along with the church fam, but we can ponder their messages and the knowledge that our Savior Jesus Christ does live for us and love us and that He did rise again.

Here they are.

And if you would like these beautiful Easter hymn quotes to hang up & enjoy, I formatted them as a freebie for you to print and download over here. πŸ’• If you love pretty printables and inspiration follow me on Pinterest and Insta to see more of the good stuff!

march 16-22 — jacob 5-7 — the Lord labors with us

How can we be as unshaken as a mountain, and as Jacob, in our testimonies? I’m sure reasons will manifest themselves as we focus on the reading this week in Come, Follow Me.

Here are some starters from Jacob’s life.

1. Stand in holy places + watch your friends (2 Nephi 5:6)

The Lamanite-Nephite separation was a pretty big deal - everyone went from pals all in this together from warring civilizations on the run from each other. As we learn, Jacob chose to go with Nephi’s crew, despite how hard it may have been to leave half the family behind. Or maybe it wasn’t hard, like some “we are never ever ever getting back together” thing. Idk πŸ˜‚. But like there was a lot at stake with this and Jacob not only chose to stand in holy places, he chose to chill with righteous peeps. Yayyyy.

2. Magnify your calling + serve (Jacob 2:2)

After Nephi died, Jacob gave a speech on chastity, pride, and riches to the Nephites. But why? As he said himself, he strived to magnify his calling. We can get involved at church and as we will we can support people having good experiences of fellowship and community at church. You don’t need any calling to be kind — we are all commanded to be. It’s hard to learn at church when you are preoccupied with yourself and feeling lonely - and sometimes you can get out of that funk by finding others and serving them. Getting involved at church is always a great way to serve and learn.

3.Receive revelation (Jacob 7:5)

As President Nelson said, “In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” Jacob didn’t skip out on this important message. He said that God spoke to him, and that he prayed often — and those two are inextricably connected. Importantly, he never gave up and followed the command to pray often.

To see Jacob’s unshaken faith in action, watch this Book of Mormon video below, which was made by the Church's amazing channel. You know it's going to be epic, like, just look at Sherem's balayage beard. Def an icon.πŸ˜‚ it even turns into a medical drama at the end ahahahaha be sure to check it out. Did I sell y'all on it or what?!? πŸ˜‚

Ok and now some links!

See y’all next week!

march 9-15 — jacob 1-4 — be reconciled unto God through the Atonement of Christ

First of all, I feel terrible for not making this an Atonement verse, aaah, however, the young women’s lesson going with these chapters is about the Atonement so you’ll be able to see some content on the blog/Instagram for that then. So onto this verse that I really do love!

Is money really even that bad? I’ve always wondered about strong statements we find about dough in the scriptures. Some include 1 Timothy 6:10, for example, in which it says, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” All evil? Everything bad?

And after the Savior spoke to the rich young ruler, there came these words in Matthew 19. “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”

That seems a little harsh. And confusing. The prophet was a doctor. His counselors were businessmen and lawyers. They probably made a lot of money. Are they bad?

This is why I am grateful for this straightforward verse. Being successful is okay, but it is all about our priorities. And of course, this isn’t just tied to finance.

2 Nephi 9 talked about education with the famous “But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God.”

And there is no going around this verse: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” from Exodus 20.

And here we derive the true and simple meaning of the verse. This isn’t an invitation to look around at everyone in our ward, the money they seem to have, the cars they buy, the vacations they post about on Instagram. This isn’t an order to judge, judge, judge, find rich people and point fingers. It’s an invitation to think about what we lack, what we can improve on, what path we are going on.

I doubt any of us are secretly burning incense in the name of Baal in our garage, but there are plenty of other cases for us to examine in which any worldly item or priority - riches, learning, fame - becomes a “god.”

In this case, it is all about you. Not you serving you but you conducting a humble examination of your days while giving yourself grace. What will you seek this week?

march 2-8 -- 2 nephi 31-33 -- this is the way

Press forward! I'm realizing I just have a teeny little blurb on thoughts on this verse, but that's probably for the better because who cares anyway! Lol so...

Like all scriptures, this can mean so many different things to so many different people, but to me, this almost seems like a plea to just keep swimming.
Not to dumb down every single thing I read to my level, or relate every single principle of the gospel to Disney. To avoid that, we even have a general authority quote. From Elder Holland...
“Don’t give up. Don’t you quit. There is hope and help ahead. Trust in God and believe in good things to come.”
This is such a poignant gospel concept that we all need to remember. Things will turn out as God does His part in His time- but we need to endure to the end.

st. patty's day gift tag ❣

Okie y’all! I am so excited to share this St. Patrick’s day gift idea and treat tag. The watercolor is super nice, it’s a fun idea, and it’s perfect for the upcoming holiday.

When you think of St. Patty’s day, what color comes to mind? When I found “The Lord is my Shepherd” Psalms I was like, “we got green and we’re set!” And so we are.

Here are the options for making the gift! I’ve included two beautiful handouts in the free printable packet for y’all.

1. Green Treat - any green dessert or candy (I have a treat tag for this)

2.Anti-Pinch Kit - mason jar filled with cute green things to wear on the “big day”πŸ€nail polish, green bracelets — genius idea: CTR ring?!? You can totally make this cute (I have a mason jar lid tag for this)

I would probably either do 1 or 1+ 2 Bc without 1, 2 is not even spiritual. πŸ€·πŸ»‍♀️πŸ˜‚ Anyways just a fun idea for St. Patrick’s Day for y’all!
