girls camp awards: three ways

Girls Camp puts an emphasis on our Heavenly Parents' creations. 🌿 It allows girls to make new friends and shine. How do we celebrate that? ⭐ I've made some awards.

I’m a creator. πŸ‘©πŸ»‍🎨 I’m a YCL, with years of girls camp experience and a new responsibility to help younger friends create theirs. I wasn’t satisfied with the camp awards on Pinterest because they seemed more about the pretty packaging, treat tie-ins and puns than meaningful awards + gospel tie-ins themselves. I saw a problem and did what I always do: design! ✍

These awards go deeper than surface-level--but the surface is cute as well! ✨It’s also customizable. Whether you want to prefill dates, tweak the certification wording or add signatures to the prints, the editable PDF can meet the needs of your girls! ✏

As a young woman, I would love to get these pretty certificates! πŸ’πŸ»‍♀️ If you’d like to put a creative twist on these classics, here are some ways that I thought of to mix up the awards. πŸ˜‰

SIGNATURE SQUARE

Handwriting & autographs are so personal! πŸ’› Let your campers keep them in their memories with this simple twist: graph construction paper, and make a border for the award. Make another border with white paper where signatures will go. Make a final border to finish it out. SO CUTE & OFFICIAL LOOKING!!!!

CUTESY COLLAGE

Pictures > words imho! πŸ“· Put together pictures taken throughout the week of camp, post it notes w specific examples of how they showed an award in action, and the award itself into a collage. To keep it firm, if you can afford, put it in a dollar store picture frame.

AFFIRMATION ACCORDION

It has always meant so much to me when my YCLs have taken the time to write personal notes to me at the end of camp and I will definitely want to do the same for my campers. ❤ A note from the group is always great, but nothing can beat personal one-by-one ministering. πŸ₯° With this approach you get both sides!

Give everyone index cards about the same size as the awards. Let them write their own individual notes to the camper receiving the award. If you want you can stop here, but I was feeling crafty and took the next step by attaching the notes to an accordion book with the award as the cover and a picture of the group as the end. (stock photos obvi to protect ppls privacy. yay!)

Now that you've gotten the deets and a preview of the cuteness of the awards, you've got a choice to make! πŸ‘‡ Will you say...

πŸ™‹‍♀️I'm ready to grab these awesome awards for my campers!

or... ✌ I'm going to keep scrolling + DIY it!

on the dress code debate

Modesty, modesty. Can topics get much more controversial than this? πŸ˜ΉπŸ˜¬So of course I’m jumping in the debate... to help y’all as you lead youth... with a pretty Printable! πŸ‘©πŸ»‍🎨

Whenever there is a church event like a dance, youth conference, or girls camp, there’s always the big Modesty Question. Will we have a dress code, πŸ€” and what will it look like?

I’m not going to lie & say I’ve never struggled with the narratives and ideas about modesty. πŸ’πŸ»‍♀️ I’m a YW, this is how I feel and how my peers— in this time of our lives in high school just trying to fit in— can feel too. The culture we live in is hostile to objective truth and religion— chastity and modesty wayyy even more so! πŸ€¦πŸ»‍♀️

But when we get down to it, the commandments of God are always liberating. πŸ™ His ways are higher than ours. That’s why I want to support my leaders as they do their best to apply them in their policies... with designs, where I come in!!!πŸ‘©πŸ»‍πŸ’»

As I was creating it, I felt prompted to create a resource from a YW who gets it to help others struggling with understanding modesty or those trying to help them. It takes all the worldly myths on modesty and shatters them from a gospel and friendly perspective. πŸ˜‡

Because of the nature of the controversy of the subject, I only want people who want to read it to do so. πŸ‘Œ Here’s the link, click on the “request access” button if you’re interested, and I hope it helps.

The resource also gives insights into why I chose to make the printable the way I did— nothing crazy. Just a scripture & excerpts from FSY! πŸ“š Depending on your views, a dress code like this or a dress code at all may seem not ok to you! πŸ™Š

That’s where the editability comes in! ✍️Make a copy and you can add your ward info— and, yes, alter the intensity of the dress code as desired! πŸ˜‚

🀷🏻‍♀️ I’m a centrist in general and I think that describes this dress code. πŸ€“But where I do go all out is in design! This supercute dress code printable is totally gorgeous, totally free & totally yours!!
